  • You Know You Love Me

It would feel SO exhilarating to say those words to people right now. But first, I've got to be fabulous.

I spent most of my afternoon watching Gossip Girl on DVD and a bit of Splendor in the Grass, because I felt like it. Today is the only day this week in which I actually got to stay home; tomorrow afternoon, it's off to the lab, and then, I'll be off on vacation. For two weeks!

That is one thing that couldn't come quickly enough. I've been waiting for this vacation for a while, although if it were up to me, I'd be in England already. I miss it so much.

That reminds me, I have to charge my iPod tomorrow evening before I go to bed. I want to hear The Kooks' "Do You Wanna" blaring in my ears when I'm getting on that plane. LOL. I have already deemed that song my song of the summer, which is why I purchased it on iTunes in the first place.

It's occurred to me that I should have lived in the 1920s. With my dreams of living the high life and somewhat independent personality, I would definitely fit in. Also, I would look good as a flapper (contrary to what people think, flappers didn't really come into existence until 1926); I am flat chested, my hair is pretty much bobbed, and quite thin.

The 1920s were an exciting time for women, in my opinion. They didn't feel the need to conform to the social norms of the previous decades, they lived their lives the way they wanted to. Also, fashion was revolutionised, and while flappers considered themselves sexy, they did it in a far more classy way than some women nowadays. It wasn't all about the boobs or big asses, it was more about being assertive and knowing what you wanted. I guess that is one reason why the 1920s is one of my favourite decades, since I am not a C cup or have sexily flowing long hair (which I wouldn't want anyway!). The 1920s was all about being sexy in a not-so-obvious way.
