  • Kids!

Recently, I decided to write a collection of short stories relating to college and college students. It's kind of going to be like F. Scott Fitzgerald's Tales of the Jazz Age and Other Stories, and the reason I even thought of it in the first place is because of the aforementioned book.

    LOL. How's that for inspiration?

But anyway, the title of this future collection is going to be Kids: Fairy Tales of the Chosen Ones (which is kind of an oxymoron, really, because some of the stories in this collection are anything but real, breathing fairy tales). There are seven major characters and (so far) ten planned short stories. The major characters are:

    1. Mineko (Natalie) Gesellig

    2. Dixon Noel

    3. Cynthia (Lindsay) Eingebildet

    4. Ali Perrier

    5. Victoria Szohr

    6. Andrew Feinberg

    7. Glen Harmon

As for the planned stories (one of which I am currently working on):

    1. Au Revoir

    2. Not Otherwise Specified

    3. Graduation Day

    4. The Flapper

    5. Red Devils

    6. Welcome to London

    7. Nearly a Queen

    8. Winter Formal

    9. A Lamb Among White Roses

    10. The Lost Weekend

One of the ideas I have for an ebook is a series of short stories reguarding several characters in a state (My own creation) all going about their daily lives. Some of the characters I've used in previous short stories but still...

I just haven't found a unifying theme yet, for the anthology.

That's great! You should definitely go for it. :) A suggested theme could be the state itself, considering that the characters live in the same exact locale.

@sortingandforting - Well yeah that's one of the recurring bits for the Ebook, it's just that when I do a short story, I like to have a moralistic theme. Something for my reader to step back and say, "Wait a minute, that's not exactly what I thought it was."

Ah. I see what you mean. I rarely write short stories (in fact, this planned collection is my first foray into them), as I tend to focus more on novels and poetry. But yeah, morals are crucial to a short story's success; for the stories I have planned, I want both the characters of the story and readers to learn something.

Thanks. :) It's my first time writing them, so I'm in the learning process, basically.
